Formed in 1984, The Association of Play Industries (API) was created to represent the interests of many different people within the play sector - including manufacturers, distributors, designers and installers. They work both within the indoor and outdoor play sector to provide a united voice for the play industry - and to promote safety, good practice and understanding of the industry.
Although originally The Association of Play Industries only really worked within the outdoor play sector, the association now covers indoor play as well - and also works with companies covering services such as construction and installation.
By remaining politically impartial, The Association of Play Industries can be an authoritative industry voice that is able to comment on, input advice to and pioneer many ideas that are vital to the sector. Whilst there are far too many things to list that the API covers within its remit, they work especially hard to champion best practice, have close liason with all relevant bodies and departments, provide vital information and networking opportunities to its members, and assist with the creation of European and British Standards.
