Following the sell-out launch of LEGO Minifigures Series 1, the format was repeated for Series 2 with another set of 16 different figures to collect. As before, they were sold in sealed packets so that each one was a big surprise! If kids or adult collectors already had the same one it was no problem - you could just swap them with your mates or other collectors.

LEGO Minifigures Series 2 featured some great sports characters like a surfer complete with board, a skier with skis & poles and a weight lifter with a weight barrel. If sports aren’t your thing, how about the traffic cop with ticket and handcuffs, the jungle explorer with magnifying glass & binoculars or the pop star complete with microphone?
Other figures in the series included a Spartan soldier, a beach life guard, a witch, a karate kid, an Egyptian, a mime artist, a disco stud, and our favourite – a Mexican complete with two maracas and the obligatory sombrero!
Each LEGO Minifigure in Series 2 had its own black base for them to stand on - and once they were sold out they won’t ever be repeated again.

Waste of money

My son does enjoy the Minifigures but as a parent it's a nightmare. I understand the marketing side, but to buy something you don't even know what you are buying... I did spend on Series 1, but nothing on Series 2. Even my son who is 8 doesn't want them anymore.
The reason why? He would prefer to buy the one he wants - and if he doesn't get it he gets upset so he decided not to bother anymore. Personally I spend a lot of money on LEGO during the year as my son only plays with LEGO. To spend £2.50 on a toy to make him happy just to see him angry because he didn't get that specific one is a waste of money.
