Released in January 2011, the Series 3 packs of LEGO Minifigures did not have individual barcodes on the packs - something which had enabled fans of Series 1 & 2 to work out the exact contents of the packs before they had even bought or paid for them!
Despite this development, some LEGO fans in the US believed that they can tell what minifigure is contained inside each pack by looking at the sequence of raised bumps running along the bottom seal. Sneaky!
The all-important 16th figure in the series was revealed just before launch as a WW2 Pilot with a moustache and parachute backpack. The complete set contained the following characters:
• Hawaii girl with maracas
• Samurai with armour and sword
• Native American Chief with spear
• Sumo wrestler with trophy
• Female tennis player with racket
• Fisherman with rod and fish
• Baseball player with bat
• Rapper with portable stereo
• Elf with shield and bow
• Gorilla with banana
• Alien with laser gun
• Ferrari driver with helmet
• Mummy with a scorpion
• Half-man half-robot
• Female snowboarder with snowboard
• Air Force pilot with backpack and helmet.

As with previous Lego minifigure sets, once the production run was sold out they were never to be repeated again, which has helped to promote a healthy interest from Lego collectors all over the world.

Love it
Comment by Wendy, 5th January 2011
I love the variety but don't like the fact that some are super hard to find such as the fisherman and the hula girl.
Shame on Lego
Comment by Marea Podhola, 30th December 2010
Why would anyone pay up to $7.00 for a item they have no idea what it is. Lego has really stooped to an all time low!
Greedy
Comment by Daz, 2nd October 2010
Quarterly release of Lego minifigures just shows how greedy the Lego corporation really is.
