As one of the most spectacular animatronic toys ever made, Pleo the Dinosaur incorporates no less than 14 motors and over 100 gears to give him his superb series of articulations. That’s only the start however, as a whole range of sensors enables Pleo RB to perform the most amazing actions as well as giving him incredible reactions. Not only can Pleo Reborn distinguish light from dark, but can also sense motion, see colours and track a moving object near him.
Pleo starts life as newly born Camarasaurus who slowly develops his own moods, personality and habits as he spends more time with his owner. A bit like a Tamagotchi when born, Pleo needs to learn and adjust to his new surroundings. Pleo also incorporates a mini USB port for online downloads and even an SD card slot for future Pleo the dinosaur extras.
The latest version is known as Pleo RB (Reborn) with a long-life lithium-polymer battery, a really tough dinosaur-like hide covering and a sense of smell that helps him tell what’s safe to eat! A microphone in each ear enables Pleo Reborn to not only tell the direction of sound but also its loudness. Measuring about 21” long, Pleo the Dinosaur is a fantastic toy... though definitely not recommended for kids under 8 years old!
