Main LeapFrog Scout Text and Learn Features
This hand-held battery-operated device allows children to send text messages to Scout, an electronic puppy character, as well as engaging in a number of navigation, letter-matching and shape identification games. Although suitable for ages three and over, one childcare professional pointed out that children with basic reading skills would get the most enjoyment out of this toy.
Benefits of the Scout Text and Learn from LeapFrog
This is an innovative tool for helping young children familiarise themselves with the alphabet. Ryland, aged three, spent hours playing with this toy, & "and kept taking my hand to help him push the buttons". The QWERTY keyboard design encourages fine motor skills, and the texting element proved popular with those looking to imitate their parents! The visual nature of the toy made it popular with children with communication disorders such as autism, as well as promoting interaction with parents and carers.
