Traditionally a major shipping port, much of Plymouth's city centre was destroyed in the Blitz, meaning that is has one of most modern, purpose-built, pedestrianised shopping centres in the county. Its significant shopping district means that there is a great selection of Plymouth toy shops - and shoppers flock from all over Devon and Cornwall to find the best choice of toys and baby products in the area.
Particularly good places to start your toy shopping are Cornwall Street, The Independent Quarter and Drake Circus - the city's brand new covered shopping centre. Whilst New George Street is home to several Plymouth toy shops including Hawkin's Bazaar and the Disney Store, we recommend you look a bit further afield. Just a short trip to The Barbican will reward you with an excellent pram and baby shop called Prams Etc. Alternatively, if you're looking for character toys from TV and movies, it's worth checking out The Toy Tardis (formally Pilgrim Toys) that is based on Frankfort Gate.
