About Embsay Station Shop

This shop enjoys a unique location at the heart of Embsay, a village on the outskirts of North Yorkshire's Dales market town of Skipton.

Situated on Platform 1, the Embsay Station Shop is only five minutes from the centre of Skipton by bus and has ample parking for those who are visiting by car. The shop is particularly well known for selling a remarkable selection of Thomas and Friends toys. This compliments the railway's Day Out With Thomas weekend events that take place on many bank holidays throughout the year. These lovely events allow children to meet The Fat Controller and get onboard a full-size Thomas engine!

The shop has been selling children's toys since 1980, and forms part of the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. The railway is a charity and as such its shops are staffed entirely by volunteers. While it sells a wide variety of children's toys and non-railway related gifts, the shop's selection of Thomas the Tank Engine toys are especially impressive. The Thomas & Friends items stocked range from play sets and all the related accessories of engines, wagons and coaches, to clothing, books and daily utensils, such as plates, cutlery and bubble bath.

This Skipton toy shop also provides a very family friendly experience, and part of the site includes the world famous Embsay Station Bookshop which is extremely comprehensive in its selection of railway associated journals, books and postcards.

Embsay Station shop is normally open six days a week, Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am until 4pm.
