Tamworth, in the county of Staffordshire, takes its name from the river Tam which flows through the town. It has existed since Saxon times, and has a very impressive 11th century Norman Castle which is an important tourist attraction. The town expanded rapidly during the Industrial Revolution, benefiting from the coal mines in the surrounding area. In modern times, the town has engineering and clothing industries, as well as brick, tile and paper manufacturers.
The town has benefited from partial redevelopment, and the Ankerside shopping centre is home to over 60 different multiple and independent shops. Tamworth’s Toy Shops are a mix of the multiple groups, and some interesting independent retailers, where you can always expect to find something new and different. An 800 place car park attached to the centre, makes shopping as quick and easy as you would need.
