Located on the south bank of the River Tyne estuary, South Shields is one of the North East’s major towns. It is part of the massively populated Tyne and Wear region that also comprises of Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham and Newcastle upon Tyne.
Most of the retail shops are in the Royal Quays Outlet Centre or the Beacon Centre nearer the middle of the town. Whilst mainly operating online, Tilda and Tom is a business based in South Shields that sells wooden and soft toys from a variety of European manufacturers. They can send orders to customers all over the UK. Model makers flock to The Hobby Shop in Frederick Street where they can purchase model kits, train accessories, paints, glues and a variety war game sets.
